WHO ARE WE?

MEKONG isour story’, connecting people through food, warmth and heart, inspired by the great river that connects people from China to Vietnam. Founded by Sarah and Laor, Sarah had the vision of challenging current fast food trends. Laor came from one of Bangkok’s premiere restaurants, with a vision and creativity to blend foods from different sources into masterpieces of culinary experiences. Sara describes the desire to create ‘memory food’.

MEKONG is named after the great river of Southeast Asia — a lifeline that flows from the Tibetan Plateau through China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam, carrying stories, flavours, and cultures along its banks.
Our restaurant honours that journey. Just as the river connects diverse communities, MEKONG brings people together through food, warmth, and shared experience.
We blend authentic Southeast Asian traditions with the creativity and openness of our Ely community. Every dish is crafted with heart – rooted in heritage, shaped by family recipes, and elevated with a modern, welcoming touch.
